John Kennedy
Counsellor and Supervisor
BA Community Education, PDA Diploma Integrative Counselling, PQD in Counselling Children and Young People, COSCA Certificate Counselling Supervision
John is a BACP accredited Integrative counsellor working with adults, young people, couples and groups. Working integratively, his practice has a firm person-centred base but draws on aspects of psychodynamic, existential and transactional analysis theories. In addition to talking therapies, John is experienced in working creatively with clients using art materials and objects to explore the presenting issues non-verbally. John also enjoys working in the outdoor setting. This draws from the theories of both wilderness and eco-therapy where the individual or group can be supported in their recovery or development through being in touch with the natural environment.
John has a background in youth work, community education, outdoor education and residential social work. He has been working in the addictions field as a counsellor for the past 14 years, and as a service manager for 5 years, initially specialising in work with young people and families.
