Lynne Thomas

Supervisor and Counsellor

Lynne Thomas

MSc/PG Dip Counselling, Diploma Counselling Supervision, BA Mental Health and counselling, BACP accredited, Certificate in Working Creatively with Children and Young People

Lynne trained initially in Mental Health then went on to train as a counsellor in 2009, and has been working as a counsellor since then in a variety of settings. Lynne has a particular interest and passion in working with children and young people, believing that children and young people have a wealth of resourcefulness and creativity within them, as well as the ability to make sense of their life experiences when provided with safe and supportive therapeutic space.

Lynne is a part-time counselling and mental health lecturer at Abertay University, and she finds that being with someone on their journey towards becoming a counsellor is a real privilege.

Lynne has a collaborative approach to counselling which is grounded in two main principles:

  • Working flexibly to best understand the uniqueness of individuals, and how they make sense of their experiences, is a helpful way to promote autonomy and personal growth;
  • Each of us has our own personal strengths and unique resources, and that a way towards this personal growth involves (re)discovering how to make best use of these qualities.
