"We think of depression as feeling bad – but to my mind it’s a kind of numbing of all emotions, a pressing down of anger and sadness and disappointment and joy and life force, and all the rest. The alternative to depression is not happiness, but feeling whatever is there, a kind of truthful emotional spontaneity and freedom."

Which feelings do you find easier to accept in yourself and in other people?

Rachel enjoyed delivering De-Escalation training for the team at Health All Round recently, which included asking this question.

She also explored it with the students on our COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills.

Which of these feelings do you find hardest to accept in others? Of course, it depends on context, but it's a useful question to explore.

Ethics protect vulnerable members of society from exploitation.

This week our counselling skills Certificate students explored the COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland) Ethics Statement and Code of Practice.

We considered some dilemmas, where ethical principles were in conflict.

Now our students have covered all the knowledge for Module One and are writing up their first assignment - good luck!
