Josie’s diploma was a dialogue between person-centred and psychodynamic modalities. The idea being that by the end of the course she would be fully immersed in her preferred core theory, which for her was Person Centred, although psychodynamic concepts inform her work.
Josie worked in the field of rape, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse for many years. This compelled her to further knowledge in trauma informed practice. Post qualifying, Josie undertook a 2-year course on the Neurobiology of Trauma, this has become a special interest.
Josie uses the Structural Dissociation Model in her work, a strength-based model that fits well with her belief in the clients’ actualising tendency. This is a combination of sensorimotor psychotherapy, mindfulness and Internal Family Systems which explores and makes explicit, the mind and body link.
Inherent in the model is a strong focus on psychoeducation. Josie is currently training in EMDR.
Josie works with females, males, non-binary and all members of the trans community, children, young people and adults.
In work with children and young people, Josie uses a wide variety of creative interventions.

Josie draws on Person-Centred concepts to inform Supervision, which means supervision is tailored to supervisees’ needs.
