Lynne trained initially in Mental Health then went on to train as a counsellor in 2009, and has been working as a counsellor since then in a variety of settings. Lynne has a particular interest and passion in working with children and young people, believing that children and young people have a wealth of resourcefulness and creativity within them, as well as the ability to make sense of their life experiences when provided with safe and supportive therapeutic space.
Lynne is a part-time counselling and mental health lecturer at Abertay University, and she finds that being with someone on their journey towards becoming a counsellor is a real privilege.
Lynne has a collaborative approach to counselling which is grounded in two main principles:
- Working flexibly to best understand the uniqueness of individuals, and how they make sense of their experiences, is a helpful way to promote autonomy and personal growth;
- Each of us has our own personal strengths and unique resources, and that a way towards this personal growth involves (re)discovering how to make best use of these qualities.
