Inspirational Speaking

Are you looking for a speaker?

If you are looking for someone to speak at a conference, workshop or evening event give Rachel Weiss a call. Rachel started inspiring others as a student by setting up the Homeless Society at Oxford University. She co-founded highly respected and innovative Rowan Consultancy in 1997. More recently she is the founder and chair of the Menopause Cafe movement.

Rachel was born in North London to a Singaporean Mathematics teacher and a Retrovirus researcher who was the son of a German Jewish immigrant. After studying Mathematics at Oxford University and Artificial Intelligence at Edinburgh University, Rachel realised that it’s the soft skills that make the most direct difference to people’s lives and so she switched track to specialise in people. First she trained as a Mathematics and Computing secondary school teacher in Aberdeen and taught at Edinburgh Academy. Whilst there she became an accredited counsellor and on moving to Perth started up Rowan Consultancy in 1997 as a training and counselling organisaton. Since then she has continued developing her knowledge becoming a credentialed coach, facilitator and mediator.

Rachel has also had a life outside of Rowan Consultancy! She has been married since 1992, raised three children and managed to keep work and home life going through many years of her husband’s illness which eventually led to a successful liver transplant for him in April 2001. Until recently she continued teaching mathematics through the Open University. In her spare time Rachel takes part in yoga, Spanish language and meditation classes. She also enjoys going to a German conversation group and a book-group. In 2017 Rachel developed the idea of a Menopause Cafe which has now grown into an international movement.

Rachel combines her wealth of workplace knowledge, people skills and life experience into entertaining, engaging, witty and educational talks.

She is a regular speaker for Perthshire Businesswomen’s Network (PBN) and has also spoken for Scottish Women In Business and Finance (SWIB), Fife Women in Business and local CIPD events. Rachel has spoken at SECC for the Early Years Collaborative and the BACP Coaching Division Conference at the NECC in Birmingham.

I went along to Rachel’s workshop about how to use S.P.A.C.E. as a coaching model. Before I went I had spoken with several people who had raved about her work and as a result I had high expectations. If I am to be totally honest, I didn’t think Rachel would meet my high expectations. Well, not only were my expectations met, they were surpassed tenfold. From the calm grounding of her mindfulness exercise to the practical implementation of using the S.P.A.C.E. concept as a coaching tool, the workshop flew by and we were at the end of it wishing it would continue a lot longer. My advice to anyone thinking of hiring Rachel to run a workshop is don’t hesitate, book her immediately, she is worth every penny of her fee.

Rachel’s style was the success of the event. She personalised every tip, phrase and example perfectly which allowed all members to relate to (even if secretly). Rachel held the attention of the audience from the moment she spoke. Her natural, calm and funny self allowed a structure of ease and bonding. I loved how she went off tangent with examples and the passion she oozed when explaining about her family.
